Over these 6 weeks, students will be introduced to lino block printmaking in a really hands-on, step-by-step way. We’ll start with the basics, like how to safely use the tools, and slowly build up to creating more personal and detailed prints. At the beginning of the course there will be 2 prints for the students to choose to create as their first print. After the first two classes students will have time to make their own concepts for their upcoming prints. Each week builds on the last, but there’s always room to experiment and make things your own.
What to expect:

Over six weeks, students will learn the complete lino block printmaking process through guided, hands-on projects in a supportive studio environment. The course begins with an introduction to printmaking tools, safety, and carving techniques, allowing students to build confidence by completing one of two beginner-friendly print designs.

As the course progresses, students will develop their own original concepts, learning how to transfer designs, carve lino blocks, experiment with different inking methods, and create prints on both paper and fabric. Weekly demonstrations, guided practice, and personalized instructor feedback help students refine their techniques while encouraging creativity and exploration.

By the end of the course, participants will have completed several original lino prints, including a final two-part diptych, while gaining a solid understanding of relief printmaking and the confidence to continue creating prints independently.
